Welcome to the DiversEAFy project

We are thrilled to announce the launch of the DiversEAFy project: Diverse EAF steelmaking innovations towards system carbon neutrality.  

Launched in June 2026, this four-year project is funded by the European Union under the European Health and Digital Executive Agency, bringing together 15 project partners from 9 different European countries, including steel and materials industries, research organisations, universities, technology providers, SMEs and organisations supporting exploitation and communication.

DiversEAFy aims to make Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) steelmaking more flexible, efficient and circular by enabling steel producers to use a wider and more variable range of raw materials, especially different qualities of scrap and DRI, by combining advanced scrap and slag characterisation, thermochemical modelling, sensor technologies, human-in-the-loop process control and digital tools.

A kick-off meeting took place from 9 to 10 June in Belgium. Project partners got the chance to meet for the first time as the project consortium. You can watch our video to see the collaborative spirit that’s going to reshape how Europe makes steel.
