DiversEAFy has reached an important communication milestone with the publication of its first press release on the European Construction Technology Platform (ECTP) portal. The article, DiversEAFy: Advancing Sustainable Steelmaking and Circular Construction in Europe, provides an introduction to the project, its objectives and the consortium working together to support the transition towards more sustainable and circular industrial and construction practices.
The press release presents DiversEAFy as a collaborative European initiative that aims to reduce the environmental impact of steelmaking while strengthening circularity across the construction value chain. It also introduces the DiversEAFy consortium and provides an opportunity to present the project and its partners, their complementary roles, and the expertise they bring to the shared ambition of supporting a more sustainable European construction and steel sector.
The publication also marks the beginning of a closer connection between DiversEAFy and the ECTP, a European platform bringing together stakeholders from research, industry, academia and other parts of the construction ecosystem to help shape research and innovation priorities for a more sustainable, competitive and resilient built environment.
ECTP provides a forum for collaboration and knowledge exchange across construction-related research and innovation, including through specialised committees addressing key technological and sustainability challenges. DiversEAFy is joining the ECTP Materials & Sustainability (M&S) Committee, which brings together stakeholders working on construction materials and sustainability-related research, development and innovation.
This cooperation is particularly relevant to DiversEAFy because materials are at the heart of both the construction sector and the project's objectives. The construction industry is one of Europe's largest consumers of raw materials, making improvements in material efficiency, durability, circularity and environmental performance essential for achieving a more sustainable built environment.
The priorities of the ECTP Materials & Sustainability Committee closely complement the objectives of DiversEAFy. Both recognise the importance of addressing climate change, advancing the circular economy and resource preservation, strengthening European competitiveness and economic viability, and developing safer and more sustainable materials and solutions.
Joining the ECTP Materials & Sustainability Committee represents more than an additional communication channel: it creates an opportunity for DiversEAFy to engage with the wider European materials and construction community and to support the uptake of solutions that can contribute to a more circular and sustainable built environment.
The publication of the press release is an important first step in communicating the project's vision and building connections with the wider European community. We look forward to sharing further developments, results and opportunities for collaboration as DiversEAFy progresses.
